Mothers, Daughters and Sisters traveled to Uganda in June 2010 with the Women’s Opportunity Network (WON) to see firsthand how the microfinance services of Opportunity Uganda empower women to provide housing, education and healthcare for their families, and to take leadership roles in strengthening their communities. WON is a dynamic network of women who invest in the lives of Opportunity’s women clients around the world. In Uganda, Opportunity serves its clients with a wide variety of products: Trust Group, individual, school proprietor and agriculture loans; savings; insurance; training; and more. Opportunity continues to expand its services to serve more women living in poverty in remote and rural villages by opening new branches and developing agriculturally focused products.
In recent news, an Opportunity supporter has generously pledged to match every donation made up to $25,000. So double the impact of your gift today, and champion the mothers, sisters and daughters working their way out of poverty in Uganda.

Opportunity International’s mission is to provide opportunities for people living in chronic poverty, so it’s no surprise that we have a history of training and empowering women as self-employed entrepreneurs. In fact, 85% of Opportunity’s 1.24 million active loan clients are women. The Women’s Opportunity Network (WON) connects these mothers, daughters and sisters who are working their way out of poverty with women around the world who would like to make a difference.
