Opportunity Mexico was launched in 2004 to provide financial services for people suffering from unemployment and poverty. People living in poverty in Mexico suffer from the repercussions of the H1N1 virus, as well as continued outbreaks of drug violence, which in recent years have added to the struggle of daily life. Opportunity serves entrepreneurs in the slums of urban Guadalajara and in rural communities in Jalisco and Michoacan, where joblessness and despair are all too common.
