India is the second most populous country in the world, whose rapidly developing economy is widening the gap between rich and poor. Up to 87% of the poorest households do not have access to credit, and up to 380 million people are in need of microfinance services.
Opportunity India provides 100% of its loans to women, who are most in need of financial services in that country. Strong leadership has helped grow the number of clients from 5,000 in 2006 to more than 66,000 today. Opportunity is seeking partners to invest $1.7 million for its work in India in 2010.
