Tony Hall

Ambassador Tony Hall is one of the world’s leading and most inspiring advocates for hunger relief, poverty eradication and human rights. Ambassador Hall is director of the Alliance to End Hunger, serves on Opportunity International’s Board of Advisors, and is the author of Changing the Face of Hunger.

Tony Hall has been nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize. He was the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Agencies for Food and Agriculture in Rome, Italy, from 2002 to 2005. Prior to that, he represented the third district of Ohio in the U.S. Congress for 24 years. A founding member of the Select Committee on Hunger, Ambassador Hall served as its chairman from 1989 to 1993. In response to the abolishment of the committee in April 1993, he fasted for 22 days to draw attention to the needs of hungry people around the world. He and his wife, Janet, live in Arlington, Va., where they raised two children.
