Each morning, put on your walking shoes to be inspired by the richness found in the life experiences of our clients, loan officers and staff. As you explore their world, discover the transformational impact of loans, savings, insurance and training on families and communities.
Visit our thriving bank in Malawi and learn about new technology initiatives that allow us to bring financial services to the most marginalized and remote clients. Travel into the field to learn how our mobile banks bring financial services to people in rural areas for the first time in their lives. Hear stories of our clients’ struggles and successes and see development in action.
Tanzania
Embark on a two day safari to experience Tanzania’s famous natural beauty. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of streets alive with industrious Tanzanians working to provide better futures for their families. Take part in Trust Group meetings where you’ll hear stories of our clients’ successes and struggles and see development in action. Learn how Opportunity utilizes resources for the transformation and training of clients and staff.
Through these experiences, you’ll envision a world in which all people have fair access to economic opportunities, along with the inspiration and determination to move beyond poverty. You’ll also have a renewed sense of how you personally can help make that world a reality for them.
Itinerary
Saturday, September 25 : Depart the United States.
Monday, September 27: Arrive in Lilongwe, Malawi. Local
Opportunity staff will meet you and take you to the Kumbali Lodge to rest.
Tuesday, September 28: After breakfast, tour Opportunity’s main bank branch in Malawi. Meet local staff and visit clients in Fetchtoto marketplace. Enjoy dinner with the CEO .
Wednesday, September 29: Take in the sights and sounds of Malawi as Opportunity’s agriculture advisor provides vibrant insight into our agriculture finance program.
Thursday, September 30: Visit with rural clients who are making their weekly transactions at our mobile banks.
Friday, October 1: After breakfast, fly to Tanzania. Checking in at Kigongoni Lodge.
Saturday, October 2: Start your safari adventure at Tarangire National Park, followed by a safari-style dinner and camping overnight in Tarangire
Nyumba Park.
Sunday, October 3: Spend the day viewing wildlife, followed by a picnic lunch and another night camping at Nyumba Park.
Monday, October 4: Return to Arusha. Spend the day relaxing or sightseeing on your own.
Tuesday, October 5: In the morning, enjoy a private breakfast and a cultural orientation with Opportunity Tanzania staff. Spend the afternoon
in the field with our amazing clients. Enjoy the farewell dinner.
Wednesday, October 6: Depart Kilimanjaro with lasting memories, new friends and a renewed vision for how you can help end global poverty.
